Zhang Langlang

Zhang Langlang (b. 1943, Yan’an, China) is a renowned painter, author, and freelance writer based in Beijing. A graduate of the Central Academy of Fine Arts with a focus on Art History and Theory, he has made significant contributions as both an artist and academic. Previously, Zhang lectured at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, held a writer-in-residence position at Cornell University, and served as a research fellow at the Princeton China Initiative. He also taught Chinese language and culture at the U.S. State Department’s Foreign Service Institute.

Zhang’s paintings are characterized by vibrant colors and dynamic forms, creating a striking visual impact that goes beyond literary expression. His art transforms language into evocative lines and rich colors, with compositions that convey a sense of tension. This unique artistic approach reflects his diverse life experiences, deep cultural insights, and the radiant qualities of human nature.
